Film it once, earn every sunrise: the economics of an 80% share

Most platforms keep the lights on by keeping your money. We did the math on what a transparent, member-funded model actually pays a teacher.

When we started Babage, we asked a blunt question: if a member pays $24 a month, how much of that should reach the person who actually taught the class? On most platforms the honest answer is 'whatever is left after the algorithm takes its cut.' We wanted a number we could say out loud.

The number is 80%

Eighty cents of every membership dollar goes to creators, paid monthly. No ad rev-share roulette, no opaque pool that shifts when engagement dips. Members pay, and you get paid — the same way a studio pays its best teachers, just without the ceiling on how many people can be in the room.

Lifestyle first, but the math should work too. A practice that pays you back is not a contradiction.

Why a full room matters more than a viral one

A recurring membership compounds in a way that a one-off viral moment never does. Two hundred members who stay are worth more than two hundred thousand views that don't. The slider on our homepage isn't a gimmick — it's the actual model, run forward. Drag it and you're looking at your own roster.

We publish these numbers because trust is the whole product. If the share ever changes, you will hear it from us first.

Why we curate a roster, not a feed

Endless scroll buries good teachers. We take a small circle each season and promote it hard. Here is the thinking behind that constraint.
